The Jomvu Kuu Pottery Group, located in the Jomvu Kuu area of Mombasa, is a collective of women artisans dedicated to preserving the traditional craft of pottery. This group plays a crucial role in maintaining the cultural heritage of the coastal region through their skills in creating ceramic products, which have been passed down through generations for over 500 years.

Pottery in the Jomvu Kuu community is more than just a craft; it is a vital aspect of Swahili culture. The women of this group produce various clay items, including cooking pots, bowls, and utensils, using techniques that reflect ancient practices influenced by local traditions and historical interactions with traders from regions like Egypt and the Far East.
